The speaker’s cabinet is ultra-rigid and has a three-box construction. The speaker’s woofer cone is made of a new material called Aerofoil, which varies in thickness to reduce resonance and concentrate stiffness where it’s most needed. The speaker’s tweeter is housed in an enclosure machined from a solid piece of aluminum, which should make it denser and less resonant than the previous enclosure. The speaker’s front baffle now has a slight curve to enhance its stiffness and eliminate flat-panel resonances. The speaker’s drivers are mounted on “pods” that stick out slightly from the curved front baffle, which should help reduce diffraction off the cabinet edges.
